Just a thought …

Instead of spending millions of pounds turning George Square in Glasgow into a replica of Philapdelphia for the new Brad Pitt movie World War Z (that’s zee apparently and not zed), replacing all of the road signs and traffic lights with American equivalents and shipping in a load of yellow taxis for good measure, why did they not just make the film in, well, Philadelphia?  Surely that would have been a lot cheaper and, perish the thought, a lot more authentic?

It has also been reported that the Jolie/Pitt entourage hired an entire train for their journey today – you can bet they didn’t suffer the delays and disasters that befall us mere mortals on this route and you can bet your bottom dollar they didn’t have to eat the same revolting food that we can purchase from the buffet car!!!  But are they happy?  ……….

Tempting fate?

There will be no more Chinese proverbs from me for a while!  I was heading back to my car in central Glasgow this afternoon when I managed to fall flat on my face in the middle of Ingram Street!  I think I just tripped – I’m not sure – but my left leg is badly scraped along with my pride!  Pedestrians on my side of the street just carried on walking as if I were invisible (obviously assuming I was worse for wear with drink!).  I would however just like to thank the rather lovely young man who ran across the street, dodging traffic, to check I was alright – there are some good people out there!!!

Everyone deserves pampering

While sorting out my filing on Sunday night, I found a voucher my good friend had bought me for my last birthday.  It was for a massage and facial at the rather wonderful Blythswood Spa in Glasgow.  Imagine my horror on checking the details that I discovered that it was only valid until today.

What to do?  Well I got straight on the phone and arranged a last minute appointment for this afternoon and boy, am I glad I did!

On arrival I was shown to my locker where a lovely soft robe, a towel, slippers and a bottle of water were ready and waiting for me.  I then went into the treatment room – low lights, soft music and a really comfy bed were waiting for me.  I then had what I can only describe as the best massage and facial in the world … ever!!!  I left feeling so relaxed it was difficult driving home through the rush hour traffic without falling asleep.  My only disappointment was that I hadn’t taken a swimming costume with me.  The heat treatments, hydro pool and swimming pool were just fantastic and will definitely be used on my next visit.

Girls, if you want a bit of R and R and have a couple of hours to spare, go on, give yourselves a treat!!!
